Eventide Sponsors Gear Club, a New Podcast Focused on the Art of Recording

New York, NY — December 20, 2016 — Today, Eventide announced Gear Club, a new podcast featuring veteran audio engineers John Agnello and Stewart Lerman as resident gear experts. The podcast is an informative, unexpurgated look at the art of recording by leading practitioners of the art. With over 60 years of making groundbreaking records and music for film and TV, John and Stewart have more than a few stories to tell!

Each Gear Club will check in with John and Stewart’s current projects—from up-and-coming indie rockers to major film soundtracks—before introducing a special guest, who will jump into the fray and share some enlightening, hilarious, and maybe even gear-oriented stories. Guests in the first episodes include:

  • Jay Messina – Chief engineer at The Record Plant
  • Greg Calbi – Mastering engineer at Sterling Sound
  • Steve Rosenthal – Owner of the iconic Magic Shop studios and The Living Room
  • Ken McKim – Head tech at Bearsville, Allaire and Sigma Sound
  • Richard Factor – Founder of Eventide and prolific inventor

John and Stewart also dissect a recording that inspired them. Learn about the magic of imperfect takes via Rod Stewart’s “Every Picture Tells A Story,” Brian Wilson’s search for perfection in recording The Beach Boys’ “Surf’s Up,” and more.

Each Gear Club also comes with a companion Spotify playlist featuring songs and artists mentioned during the episode. From hot new bands to classics, these playlists are a perfect companion.

Gear Club is available on iTunes and SoundCloud. Visit www.gear-club.net for more information.
