On September 16, The Recording Academy® Atlanta Chapter, in association with The Producers & Engineers Wing®, presented the GRAMMY® Professional Development Event, “Anatomy of a Hit. Sponsored in part by Harman Professional Brands JBL Professional, AKG Acoustics and Lexicon, the event was held at Glenn Schick Mastering and included a panel discussion moderated by Billboard magazine’s R&B/Hip-Hop Senior Music Editor Gail Mitchell.
The “Anatomy of a Hit presentation featured GRAMMY-winning production and songwriting team C. “Tricky Stewart and Kuk Harrell, GRAMMY-winning artist Ciara, RedZone Entertainment artist Bryan J and Executive VP Def Jam/Universal NY Chris Hicks. Stewart and Harrell have enjoyed tremendous success in recent years, having written and produced material for such international stars as Beyoncé, Rihanna, Mariah Carey, Chris Brown, Mary J. Blige and Usher. In this exciting setting, Atlanta music producers, writers and engineers had the chance to see new microphones, headphones, studio monitors, and reverberation
processors from AKG, JBL and Lexicon.
“Atlanta is a mecca for modern hip-hop and pop music, along with New York and Los Angeles, said Scott Floyd of Vision2 Marketing, Harman’s regional manufacturer’s representative. “A lot of musicians and producers live in Atlanta and work closely together. There’s just a tremendous talent pool here.
“As an official P&E Wing sponsors, JBL, AKG and Lexicon share the P&E Wing’s goals of addressing issues that are critical to the music production and engineering communities, including the adoption of new technology and the sharing of best practices, said Peter Chaikin, Director of Marketing, Recording & Broadcast, JBL Professional. “The ‘Anatomy of a Hit’ event provided a priceless opportunity to present our technologies and meet Atlanta’s thriving music community.
Integral in organizing the audio technology for the event were: James Willis and Casey Johnson from Vision2 Marketing, and Billy Johnson from CrossOver Entertainment Group, with support from the staff at Glenn Schick Mastering.
