KINGSTON AUDIO SERVICES RELIES ON POWERSOFT FOR TELLURIDE BLUEGRASS AND NEW ORLEANS JAZZ FESTIVALS

Difficult conditions + Powersoft = no problem

New Orleans, LA, August 2010 – Powersoft amplifiers, the most efficient, green-designed amplifiers in the industry, were used by Kingston Audio Services to drive the sound at the recent 2010 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, presented by Shell, and the 37th annual Telluride Bluegrass Festival. Powersoft amplifiers provided the clear, clean sound necessary to inspire audiences listening to artists ranging from Jeff Beck, Elvis Costello, José Feliciano and Irma Thomas for Jazz Fest to Lyle Lovett, Alison Krauss & Union Station, and Brandi Carlile for the Telluride Bluegrass Festival.

Gospel is one of the founding music genres of the Jazz & Heritage Festival, and the 2010 event was no different, with gospel choirs belting out inspirational power throughout the festival. This year, Kingston Audio Services provided the sound system for the Gospel Tent, relying on Powersoft amplifiers to help rock the heavens.

“We used Powersoft K3, K6 and K10 DSP amplifiers to power our FOH system at the Gospel Tent, says Simon Fraser, owner of Kingston Audio Services. “Powersoft drove an all-Outline speaker system that included Butterfly speakers and SubTech 218 subwoofers with Mantas speakers for outfills. The Powersoft amplifiers were the perfect match for the Outline speakers, giving us a trouble-free, great-sounding system to support the thundering vocals from the gospel choirs.

Kingston also provided the sound for Gentilly Stage at Jazz Fest. The setup employed a combination of Outline LAB 21 self-powered speakers using Powersoft IPAL technology and LAB 21 speakers driven by Powersoft K10 amplifiers featuring a unique damping factor control and DSP-controlled limiting.

From the sultry heat of New Orleans to the rare air of the mountains, Kingston Audio Services gave audiences a Rocky Mountain high at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival with Powersoft Amps. They used the amplifiers in for the FOH and monitor systems.

“Kingston was one of the early believers in Powersoft and every year we use them, the audiences are not disappointed, says Fraser. “The amplifiers use far less current than traditional designs, they are lightweight and work under the difficult conditions. They work efficiently in the humid, hot conditions in New Orleans as well as the dry, thin air in the mountains.

“I have been introducing equipment to the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival for more than 15 years, says Tom Bensen, vice president and director of operations for Powersoft Advanced Technologies, LLC, the U.S. branch of Powersoft. “These festivals represent some of the most diverse and harsh conditions that any product could face and it serves as a wonderful proving ground for the reliability of Powersoft. All stages using Powersoft delivered audio quality that was crisp, clear and offered the tight, punchy bass response that is signature for Powersoft.
