Propellerheads’ Director of North American Markets lays out the why, what and how behind the development of this new music production studio. • Mixing and Processing in Record With Peff aka Kurt Kurasaki
Peff discusses his development work on Record, especially the creation of many of the insert effect combinators and the design concepts behind this part of the Record Sound Bank. He’ll demonstrate the processing power of the mixer channel strip in combination with these insert effects and show how to clarify and enhance music tracks, as well as mastering techniques.
• Michael Winger: Michael discusses his work producing and engineering in the studio and performing on stage with equal parts technology and musical chops. Mike will show how Record/Reason works for the songwriting musician and producer.
• Jeremy Ellis: The breakbeat freestyler from Detroit discusses his signature combination of great playing skills and live Reason chops. With Record on board, “Jayro� takes it live, recording and looping in real-time, all ending with a funky Record/Reason improv performance.

About the Presenters

Gerry Bassermann is Propellerheads Director of North American Markets and an accomplished musician. He holds several degrees in music composition and performance and currently owns and operates OpusNine (a project studio in the San Francisco Bay area). Peff (aka Kurt Kurasaki), author of Power Tools for Reason 3.0, is a noted Reason user with credits in Keyboard and Computer Music Magazines. He also works with Propellerhead Software as a sound designer and tutorial developer. Michael Winger is a producer, engineer, musician and songwriter who has recorded hundreds of artists from fledgling local songwriters to major label international acts such as Feist, the Shins, Regina Spektor and many others. His work as a producer has been heard on radio, network television, film soundtracks and across the vast interwebs. He is also one half of the power duo, Super Adventure Club, in which he plays bass, keyboards and sings in 5 languages simultaneously. Winger began his music career playing guitar and singing in the indie rock band Dayroom, a group from Athens, GA that toured 200 shows a year for 5 years solid. In 2001, he moved to San Francisco where he began producing and currently owns a studio at 1340 Mission in the historic former Coast Recorders building. He also runs a mobile live recording company, Flying Kitchen Productions and serves as secretary and co-chair of advocacy for the SF Chapter of the Recording Academy. www.michaelwinger.com

Jeremy Ellis was born to a family of musicians generations deep, and began learning piano at the age of 5. Continuing to study and master classical and then jazz piano through his youth, the boy that was Jeremy grew into the man known as Ayro. He became well known in Detroit Jazz and electronic music circles through playing with renowned jazz/fusion group Jazzhead and live electronic group Time:Space, and lending his keyboard skills to legendary Detroit producer Carl Craig, Alton Miller, Recloose and others. Ayro broke out worldwide as a solo artist in 2001 with his underground anthem, “Let This”. Stephen Hart recently partnered with Bay Area Sound Studios, a new facility in San Rafael, CA, as operator of the Mixroom and Director of Recording Services. He brings over 25 years experience in the recording industry as recording engineer, mixer, producer, and project co-coordinator. Stephen was most recently (2000 – 2007) chief engineer and lead mixer at Fantasy Studios. Artists he has recorded include David Bowie, Santana, John Lee Hooker, En Vogue, MC Hammer, Tony Bennett, Isaac Hayes, Flora & Airto, White Stripes, Oscar Peterson, and the Neville Brothers. He holds multiple platinum and gold albums, “Blues Album of the Year 2000� for Stevie Ray Vaughn and Albert King, and has been on staff at The Plant Studios, EMI Italia, Forward Music Taipei, He has recorded and/or mixed many hundred’s of albums with total unit sales of 40 million.
