MCNALLY SMITH COLLEGE OF MUSIC AND GIBSON FOUNDATION HOSTS GRAMMY® CAREER DAY ON MAY 7TH

St. Paul, MN (April 29, 2008) – Top music industry professionals discuss the realities of the music business and careers in music with more than 300 Minneapolis/St Paul Area high school students at GRAMMY Career Day, an initiative of the GRAMMY in the Schools® program. The day will include a variety of workshops focusing on various fields in the music industry. Students from numerous schools around the area will be represented including: St. Francis High School, Coon Rapids High School, Blaine High School, Anoka High School, Andover High School, S.T.E.P. (Secondary Technical Education Program) and South St. Paul High School. The program is presented by the Gibson Foundation and is free of charge.

“McNally Smith College of Music is pleased to be hosting this year‘s GRAMMY Career Day,” says Andre Fischer, Dean of Music Industries at McNally Smith. “By bringing this comprehensive musical event into our school, students are given the opportunity to get up-close-and-personal with leaders within the music industry while broadening their musical interests and gaining insight into the various career paths that lie before them.”

Among the long list of past GRAMMY Career Day participants includes: John Mayer, Boyz II Men, Melissa Etheridge, David Foster, Jimmy “Jam” Harris, Wyclef Jean, Ashanti, LL Cool J, Branford Marsalis, Curtis Mayfield, Roger Nichols, Phil Ramone, Linda Ronstadt, Arturo Sandoval, Al Schmitt, Jon Secada, Alan Silvestri, Tony Visconti, Diane Warren, Don Was, Trisha Yearwood and Faith Hill.
