St. Paul, MN, June 5, 2008 – McNally Smith College of Music is pleased to announce that André Fischer, previously Dean of Music Industries, has been promoted to Executive Director of the McNally Smith Foundation. In his new role, Fischer is responsible for reinforcing and strengthening the college’s presence in St. Paul and its surrounding areas as well as throughout the country.

Fischer has been mandated with establishing annual and long-term financial goals for institutional advancement and raising funds for educational scholarships, facilities, equipment, programs and events. Serving as a member on both the President’s Council and Scholarship Committee as well as an advisor to the Academic Council, Fisher plays an integral role in building college and community shared programs, workshops and seminars and in securing guest speakers and social events.

“My new role as executive director not only allows me to raise funds and awareness for McNally Smith, but also positively impacts the St. Paul community,� explains Fischer. “I am now able to provide grants for community activities and outreach programs to provide more ways in which the college can interact with its surrounding neighbors.�

To maintain involvement with students and his passion for education, Fischer continues to teach his Record Companies course. “Without the students, I really don’t think I could be here,� says Fischer.
