At AES 2008 in San Francisco, The Music Engineering and Technology Alliance will host its first Educator Summit to promote quality in audio production and reproduction. Educators participating represent leading institutions in the US and abroad, as the Alliance continues to partner with those who share similar goals. All educators are encouraged to visit the METAlliance website to learn more about participating in this historic summit.
“The participation of those of us in the academic community is a critical factor in the progress of the art and science of audio technology. We educators are constantly teaching our students about the importance of quality and this conference is a concrete way in which we can connect with the professional community,” remarked Jim Anderson, Chair of the Clive Davis Department of Recorded Music at New York University. “I encourage educators from around the world to join us at this historic summit in San Francisco.” Anderson is President-Elect of the AES, and has been a frequent lecturer and master-class guest faculty member at leading international institutes.
The METAlliance is comprised of globally-recognized, award-winning audio engineers and producers who have been deeply involved in establishing techniques and technical standards that are the foundation of modern music recording. The METAlliance Board of Directors is Chuck Ainlay, Ed Cherney, Frank Filipetti, George Massenburg, Phil Ramone, Elliot Scheiner and Al Schmitt. The day long program will include interaction with METAlliance Founders.
“We are working with leading educators to promote and determine the distinctions in what students perceive as audio quality,” explained Jim Pace, Director of Business Affairs. “We firmly believe that educators who help to elevate audio consciousness in the academic community deserve recognition and support. Today’s students will be tomorrow’s engineers, producers, and technology designers.”
