MOJAVE AUDIO SPONSORS VOCAL SCHOLARSHIP AT MUSICIANS INSTITUTE

Dusty Wakeman, President of Mojave Audio; Beth Marlis, Vice President of Industry and Community Relations at Musicians Institute; and Jon Claydon, Director of Vocal Programs for Musicians Institute.

Los Angeles, CA… Mojave Audio, a leading manufacturer of world-class microphones for the recording professional, is pleased to announce the formation of the Mojave Audio Vocal Scholarship. The new scholarship program will be awarded in Fall 2011 to students (US or non-US citizens) enrolling in Musicians Institute’s Associate of Arts in Performance (Vocal) program who demonstrate outstanding vocal skills in any genre.

The Mojave Audio Vocal Scholarship is available to students enrolled in the Vocal performance program. Students wishing to be considered must complete a Mojave Audio Vocal Scholarship application (available on the Musicians Institute website). They must also submit a video recording (DVD format only) where the candidate performs three songs in any style. Ideally, this demonstration disc should include two live ensemble performances plus a solo (a cappella) performance.

Dusty Wakeman, Mojave Audio’s President, commented on the company’s decision to sponsor a vocal scholarship at Musicians Institute. “Mojave Audio has become a favorite microphone of recording engineers, vocal performers, and voiceover talent from all walks of life, Wakeman says. “Given the nature of our product and its popularity for use in vocal recording, we were looking for a way to (1) foster the creative arts, and (2) do so in a way that had a direct correlation to the manner in which so many of our microphones are used. The prospect of helping a talented vocalist gain the training necessary to further their craft struck all of us at Mojave Audio as the ideal opportunity to contribute.

Beth Marlis, Vice President of Industry and Community Relations at Musicians Institute and Executive Director of The Musicians Foundation, echoed Wakeman’s enthusiasm, “All of us at Musicians Institute are very excited to be working with Mojave Audio—the sponsor and partner in creating the new Mojave Audio Vocal Scholarship. This new program represents a terrific opportunity for a talented, but financially challenged vocal student to be able to pursue their education and, ultimately, their professional aspirations. We really appreciate the fact that Mojave Audio recognizes the importance of supporting music education and we hope to continue this program and partnership well into the future.
