The Music Producers Guild Debates The Tools Created For Recording Professionals

Does current pro audio technology really provide the tools recording professionals want? This is the burning question that the Music Producers Guild, in conjunction with MPG Awards, plans to explore in a panel discussion taking place at London’s Music Production Show.

Entitled Creative Music Production – Are We Getting The Tools We Need? the panel will start at 11.30 am on Saturday November 24th and will be moderated by producer and MPG member Tony Platt.

“With the “studio” environment increasingly becoming a hybrid of hardware and software, virtual and tangible, in and out of the box – we pose the question of whether the gear we are being offered is providing the tools we actually want,” Tony Platt says. “Are there too many versions of the same thing? Does it work the way we want to operate? Are the interfaces intuitive? These are issues that really matter to recording professionals and we felt it was about time we debated them.”

The panel for this event will include Stefan Pope and Andy Bensley, who respectively represent leading equipment distributors KMR and Source Distribution. Both have extensive knowledge of the pro audio industry and deal with world-class manufacturers and recording professionals on
a daily basis. They will be joined by Emre Ramazanoglu and Tom Morris, two of the UK hottest young producer/engineers.

Anyone wishing to attend is encouraged to submit their questions in advance to Tony Platt using this email address: [email protected]

The Music Production show takes place on November 23rd and 24th at the Emerates Stadium London.

The Music Producers Guild Awards take place on February 7th 2013 at the Café de Paris in London. For more information about this annual celebration of the talent and creativity of the UK’s recording community, please visit www.mpgawards.com
