MusicBox Names Andrew Robbins, Director, Film & TV Music

Calabasas, CA & New York, Oct. 3, 2007 – MusicBox, a leading music production company that provides thousands of cuts from its original music catalog, as well as original composition and scoring, to television programs, promos, and commercials, has named Andrew Robbins to the new post of Director, Film & TV Music. In this capacity, Robbins will work with producers, editors, and music supervisors to present MusicBox’s custom scoring services, and the company‘s extensive music catalog which now boasts approximately 200 CDs worth of licensable songs, trailer music, program underscore and other post-audio elements. The announcement was made today by company co-founders/composers Dan Stein and Joel Goodman.

For 10 years prior to joining MusicBox, Robbins served as Director, Film/TV Music at Megatrax, where his prolific client relationships greatly aided to that company’s growth. During those years, he enjoyed such successes as multiple music placements in the Best Picture Oscar winning film “Crash”, and other films that included “Mr. and Mrs. Smith,” “House of Wax” and “Big Fish.” He was also responsible for well over 1000 additional music placements in broadcast and cable television programs and feature film trailers.

ABOUT ANDREW ROBBINS:

From 1997-2007, Andrew Robbins was Director, Film/TV Music at Megatrax. Earlier, from 1994-1997, he was Director of Music Publishing for songwriter/producer Dana Walden‘s Coyote Entertainment, an LA-based music production company. From l993-94, Robbins worked independently to oversee his family‘s music publishing interests. He also worked in the creative department of Rondor Music International, the publishing arm of A&M Records, from 1990-93. During this time, he helped to promote the catalogs of The Beach Boys, The Carpenters, East Memphis Music, and Billy Preston, among others.

Andrew Robbins has music in his blood, literally. He has been called “a third generation member of the first family of music publishing.” His grandfather, the legendary music publisher Jack Robbins (aka “The Big 3” or Robbins Feist & Miller) was founder of the first music publishing company to strike a deal with a major Hollywood studio upon the advent of sound in motion pictures. Jack Robbins was the music publisher for MGM Studios and the first major Hollywood musical “Broadway Melody”.

Marshall Robbins (Andrew’s father), was the publisher behind legendary lyricist Johnny Mercer for 28 years. Marshall published such songs as “I Wanna be Around” , “The Facts of Life,” and the scores to “L‘il Abner” and “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers,” to name just a few.
