In the latest installment of the Bonzai Beat, Mr. Bonzai chats with Ross Garfield, aka “The Drum Doctor.” For over 30 years, Garfield has been working closely with the world’s top drummers in the creation of megahit records. In his SoCal warehouse he has over 500 snare drums, including the legendary “Terminator,” valued at over $100K. A former drummer himself, he provides drum rentals, cartage, and consulting for albums, tours, and major films.

Garfield helps drummers find their unique “voice” and that specific sound for any stage or studio project. The Drum Doctor has provided his mojo to long-time clients and friends ranging from Jim Keltner, Josh Freese, and the late Jeff Porcaro, to the members of Metallica, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Nirvana – to name a few.
Learn what the Drum Doctor has to say about how he finds the right sound for a song, advice for what young drummers should do to improve their chops, and stories about his work with The Traveling Wilburys.
