San Francisco, CA — Sound Devices is pleased to welcome Paul Isaacs as Principle Applications Engineer. In his new position, Paul will work closely with Sound Devices' engineering department on advanced product development. Isaacs will be in attendance at this year’s AES show (Booth 1231) to officially introduce himself to the professional audio and engineering industry.

With his early start as an engineer at BBC Radio, Isaacs has made the transition to positions in product development for some of the industry’s leading manufacturers. Paul was instrumental in the development and definition of the iXML format for broadcast wave files, which has now been adopted as a format for metadata interchange by many location recording devices and digital audio workstations. He has also worked on several significant audio production products such as the Portadrive, Portadisc and Portadat in his role as technical development manager at HHB Communications in London.

Paul has worked as a sales and marketing manager with New Zealand-based Sound Techniques (where he worked to convert New Zealand productions to file-based workflows) and most recently a consultant with Applied Audio Consultants Ltd., (also a New Zealand-based company), bringing both sales and technical expertise to Sound Devices.

“We are honored that Paul has chosen to join Sound Devices, says Matt Anderson, Sound Devices director of engineering. “Our future products will benefit from his extensive experience and knowledge of file-based workflow.

Paul has degrees in both Music Performance and Engineering from The University of Reading in the UK. He is also an accomplished pianist as well as piano teacher.
