The RapcoHorizon Company Provides Reliable Audio for Cain’s Ballroom

TULSA, OK, JUNE 13, 2012 – The RapcoHorizon Company (InfoComm 2012, Booth C11619), a leading manufacturer of audio/video interfacing and cable equipment, has been chosen as the exclusive snake and cable provider for Cain’s Ballroom in Tulsa, Oklahoma. After a 20-year relationship with RapcoHorizon, Cain’s recently selected a custom rack-mount Venue splitter snake, Concert Series sub snakes and RoadHog microphone and monitor cables to provide the ultimate in sound quality for the 1,700-person-capacity venue.

Ranked by CNN as one of the “Top 10 Fabulous U.S. Music Venues,” Cain’s Ballroom began its musical history as a ballroom dance venue in the 1930s. Today, it is primarily utilized as a concert hall, hosting as many as 20 performances each month. With concerts by artists in a myriad of genres—from rock and country to heavy metal—the venue relies on its RapcoHorizon gear for flexibility and durability.

“With so many different types of musicians using the gear, our cables take a lot of abuse,” says Russell Law, III, house engineer for Cain’s Ballroom. “I really like the jackets on the XLRs – they’re reliable and that’s the main goal I was looking to achieve.”

The RapcoHorizon RoadHog XLR cables in use at Cain’s offer a unique design for the working musician, as their rugged construction does not sacrifice sound quality. The outer jackets are made of durable yet flexible PVC. The cables’ pure copper conductors and shields provide a superior sound and reliable operation, night after night. With as many as 12 mixes during any given show, Law relies on the RapcoHorizon cables to send audio to the monitors, which ensures clarity of tone. Law relies on the Extras are kept on hooks backstage, in case the setup calls for additional cables. The RoadHog microphone cables run audio to the various Shure and Sennheiser microphones. All of the RoadHog cables guarantee a clear, crisp tone in a rugged casing.

Given the abundance of RapcoHorizon cables in use, Law relies on RapcoHorizon’s custom rack-mount Venue splitter snake and Concert Series sub snakes to ensure a neat, organized stage. RapcoHorizon’s Venue Series, the company’s highest quality product, offers the best construction of cable and premium connectors. The Concert Series is a premium quality product line, which provides a unique construction of cables and connectors manufactured with pure copper conductors and braided shields, coupled with top-brand connectors. All custom RapcoHorizon snakes are hand soldered and individually tested to ensure performance, frequency response and durability.

“The wide variety of RapcoHorizon equipment being used ensures that musicians at Cain’s Ballroom are afforded dependable performance and resilience during every show,” says Lucas McCulley, marketing and artist relations at RapcoHorizon.

Built in 1924 by Tulsa entrepreneur Tate Brady, Cain’s Ballroom transitioned from a garage to a dime-a-dance joint and dance academy started by Madison W. “Daddy” Cain in 1930. The building was sold and refurbished in 1976 before reopening with the current name, Cain’s Ballroom. Since then, the venue has become well known for being one of the top performance venues in the world—having earned distinctions not only from CNN but also by Yahoo as one of “10 Great Places to See a Show.” Pollstar also ranked the venue as number 26 worldwide for ticket sales at club venues. Some notable artists who have graced the stage at Cain’s Ballroom include Snoop Dogg, The Band Perry, Matisyahu, Switchfoot, Flogging Molly, Coheed and Cambria, Smashing Pumpkins and Sugar Ray. Grammy-winning artist Bon Iver performed at the venue on June 2, 2012.
