The Recording Academy®’s Memphis Chapter and P&E Wing To Host GRAMMY® Studio Summit in New Orleans on Wednesday, April 29

Santa Monica, Calif.  — On Wednesday, April 29, 2015, The Recording Academy® Memphis Chapter, in partnership with The Producers & Engineers Wing®, will present the inaugural New Orleans GRAMMY® Studio Summit at Esplanade Studios (2540 Esplanade Ave, New Orleans, LA 70119). The event, taking place from 2 – 9 p.m. CDT, aims to celebrate excellence in audio, showcase the vibrant New Orleans recording scene and provide the local community with a networking and professional development opportunity.  

The Summit will include a keynote and Q&A with eight-time GRAMMY winning producer/engineer and P&E Wing founding member Elliot Scheiner. The Q&A will be moderated by Jonathan Pines from Rupert Neve Designs. Following the Scheiner event, a panel titled “Resurgence of Vinyl” will address the current and future landscape of vinyl production, including format sustainability, advances in pressing and playback technology, the importance of the mastering process and more. The panel will feature Eric Astor (Furnace Record Pressing), mastering engineer Bruce Barielle, Ben Blackwell (Third Man Records), and vinyl cutter Jeff Powell (Take Out Vinyl). The summit will conclude with “Recording Roots Music Today,” a panel featuring moderator Scott Billington (Rounder Records), GRAMMY-winning engineer Neal Cappellino, artist and producer Anders Osborne and Recording Academy Memphis Chapter President Lawrence “Boo” Mitchell.

A networking reception featuring product demonstrations from Rupert Neve Designs and Presonus, along with in-vehicle demonstrations of the ELS Studio Premium Audio System, powered by Panasonic and designed by Scheiner, will end the day’s events.

On-site registration with equipment demos will open at 2 p.m. The program will begin at 2:45 p.m.
