SAE Graduate Builds International Networking Site for Music Professionals

Tom Tabouring, a 2012 graduate of SAE Institute Los Angeles, has launched MyMusicSkills.com, an online forum that makes it fast and easy for musicians, recording artists, songwriters, engineers, and DJs to collaborate on their projects.

“I originally came up with the idea for MyMusicSkills.com when I was working in my home recording studio in Luxembourg, which is where I grew up,” explains Tabouring, who graduated from SAE with a Diploma in Audio Technology. “I wanted to find African vocals for an EDM song that I was working on, but I knew that it would be impossible for me to find a singer in the area who could do it. I then came up with the idea of a networking site devoted exclusively to the audio and music industries that would help producers like me to connect with the right talent for their productions.”

Tabouring credits SAE with giving him the necessary education and experience to be able to successfully pursue a full-time career in the music industry.

“I chose SAE Los Angeles based on their excellent online reviews,” says Tabouring. “I compared SAE to the programs of other L.A. audio recording schools, but after visiting the campus, I saw myself fitting in better at SAE. The classroom and studio education gave me the know-how to improve the quality of the tracks that I produce, and the overall preparation that I received is helping me to develop a career on the business side of the music business with MyMusicSkills.com.”

Tabouring was impressed by the skill and seriousness of SAE’s faculty. He noticed that the staff did whatever they could to help students in their studies and career pursuits.

“Even with SAE’s fantastic facilities and faculty, it’s the students themselves who need to do the hard stuff, like studying regularly, spending a lot of time in the studios, and working diligently on assignments,” says Tabouring. “While other audio recording schools may have strong curriculums and talented instructors, my experience at SAE changed my life in a way that no other school could have made possible.”

MyMusicSkills.com is steadily gaining members and building buzz each day. Currently, musicians, recording artists, songwriters, engineers, and DJs from 27 countries have registered to network, collaborate, and interact. Tabouring also spends time attending events, concerts, and open mic events in Los Angeles to meet music professionals and promote the site to potential users.

“My advice to anyone looking to achieve any success in the music business is to work hard, follow your passion and love what you do, and believe in your abilities,” says Tabouring. “Most importantly, build a strong support system of people you can trust who you can turn to for good advice and honest feedback, which is something that I’m lucky to have thanks to my experience at – and continued connection with – SAE Los Angeles.”
