SAE Institute of Technology Announces Gary Platt as VP of Academics.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, FEBRUARY 23, 2009 — There are a finite number of players in the media career training world, and now two of the big fish are combining their knowledge to bring career training to new heights. Tom Misner, President and founder of SAE Institute of Technology has announced Gary Platt, co-founder of Full Sail University, The Recording Workshop, and Ex’pression College as the VP of Academics and Regulatory Compliance for SAE campuses in North America.

Tom Misner acknowledges the uniqueness of the new relationship, “At first I’m sure people will look at Gary joining SAE and pause to think about the impact of it. It’s pretty big with all the history we both have in education, and that’s one reason we like the idea. When you combine SAE’s know-how from 30 years in operation and campuses all over the world with Gary’s know-how from the multiple schools he’s successfully built and run; everyone can see that by working together we’re going to get a lot done, and make SAE’s education even better.

Beyond his experience in education, Mr. Platt also possesses an extensive audio career having worked with major label artists ranging from Adrian Belew, King Crimson, Bootsy Collins, Bon Jovi, Spyro-Gyra, Cheap Trick, Prince, Shaq, New Edition amongst many others.  Gary’s experience also includes audio mixing for the Electronic Arts game “SKATE series, extensive live concert mixing, and video editing for a variety of clients including the Technical Excellence and Creativity Awards for audio industry.

Gary Platt comments on his new endeavor, “I am highly committed to excellence in media-arts education, and SAE Institute seems like a perfect match. As we continue to expand campus locations in North America, we will be increasing degree levels and acquiring accreditation at our existing five North American campus locations. I am energetic and enthusiastic about the vision for SAE Institutes put forth by owner Tom Misner, it’s an honor to become a member of the terrific SAE team!â€?

Based out of SAE Institute’s sixth US campus currently under construction in San Francisco, Gary Platt has been able to immediately experience first-hand how SAE Institute has expanded to over 50 campuses worldwide. “In my estimation, one of the most important aspects of excellence in career education is the positive culture of a school.  SAE is an energetic, positive, youth-driven organization that I am very happy joining.
