Sound Devices Debuts Firmware Update For 7-Series Line of Digital Recorders at NAB 2009

LAS VEGAS, NV – Sound Devices announces the latest firmware updates for its best-selling 7-Series line of digital recorders — the 2.63 Firmware upgrade for the 702, 702T, 722 and 744T recorders and the 1.71 firmware upgrade for the 788T at this year’s NAB show (Booth N6129).

Sound Devices’ 7-Series digital recorders have quickly gained a strong reputation in the broadcast and film industry for their superb audio performance and extensive production-oriented features. With the latest revision of firmware, 7-Series recorders offer substantial improvement to writing to slow storage mediums, such as DVD-RAM. Simultaneous recording relieves users from waiting for the recorder to produce a copy and is a key differentiator with the new upgrade.

The latest 1.71 firmware update extends the capabilities of its best-selling 788T multi-track recorder. It now has the ability to assign any record track to any recording medium, allowing the user to have unique recordings on the internal hard drive, CompactFlash, and external FireWire drives (i.e. DVD-RAM). Sound Devices 788T digital recorder also gains a new screen which shows what inputs have been assigned to tracks at-a-glance, and the ability to make routing changes from that screen.

“Our 7-Series line of digital recorders continues to gain new capabilities through our regular firmware upgrades,â€? says Jon Tatooles, managing director for Sound Devices. “This is another example of Sound Devices response to working professionals using our products. We continue to improve our 7-Series line based on real-world information our customers share with us.â€?
