SYMETRIX EXPLORES JUPITER

SEATTLE, WASHINGTON – JUNE 2010: Symetrix will launch the Jupiter line of installed sound DSP products at InfoComm 2010 in Las Vegas. Jupiter is a zero learning curve turnkey audio processing platform drawing its inspiration from the “apps” paradigm of smartphones like Apple’s iPhone(tm). Jupiter hardware is available in three versions differing only in their input/output counts. Jupiter software apps transform what would be generic hardware into highly specific audio engines for, but certainly not limited to, operations like paging, automixing and loudspeaker management.

“Jupiter is immensely flexible and capable of totally satisfying the core requirements of many small sound systems as well as the ancillary needs of much larger ones,” said Paul Roberts, Symetrix director of sales and marketing. “By providing a mix of powerful DSP and ease of use, we feel that Jupiter marks a significant departure from business as usual.”

The free software used to

configure Jupiter hardware runs on the Windows(r) operating system. Within the main application shell a user selects the desired app. The selected apps main screen presents a view of the overall signal flow and processing modules. Clicking on a module reveals a concise graphic representation of complex audio processing that is easily understood. Jupiter apps are built from an extensive library of signal processors including gain sharing and gating auto-mixers, matrix mixers, feedback fighters, ambient SPL computers, and filters (including FIR) to name just a few. The ever-growing library of downloadable Jupiter apps serves to future-proof a customers’ hardware investment.

The Jupiter hardware configurations match up with specific system input/output requirements: Jupiter 4 is four in and four out; Jupiter 8 is eight in and eight out; while Jupiter 12 provides twelve inputs and four outputs. All inputs are software selectable for line- or mic-levels with phantom power. Supported external controllers include Symetrix ARC wall panels, binary or analog control voltage inputs and outputs, and IP control of virtually all app parameters.

Standing on the shoulders of Symetrix’ world-class SymNet DSP platform, Jupiter upholds the gold standard of pristine sound. But just as importantly, Jupiter makes the often complex and arduous task of setting up application specific audio signal processing a much faster, easier and, dare we say, fun way to spend time.
