SYMETRIX JUPITER GETS INTO CANADA’S RENOVATED FUTURE SHOPS AND BEST BUY STORES

MONTRÉAL, CANADA – JULY 2011: Solutions Audio Video is a Montréal-based company that specializes in both home theater systems and background music systems for commercial facilities. Among its clients are all the Canadian Future Shop and Best Buy retail stores, which currently number over two hundred and growing. Jettisoning a client-provided processor, which had proven to be unreliable, Solutions Audio Video is installing Symetrix Jupiter processors in all renovated and new locations. Its rock-solid reliability, ease of installation, and competitive price make the Jupiter an ideal choice for retail settings.

“We kept going out for service calls on the client-supplied processors,” said Serge Mayer, president of Solutions Audio Video. “They were simply freezing up. We have a great relationship with the Symetrix distributor in Montréal, and the new Jupiter “zero learning curve” digital signal processors seemed like an excellent replacement. It’s

easy to install, competitively priced, and, most importantly, reliable.”

Symetrix’ Jupiter series of processors offers a radical new vision for the relationship between hardware and its application. Inspired by smartphone technology, which allows a handheld hardware device to take on any number of functions with downloadable software apps, the Jupiter hardware performs a huge range of location- and application-specific audio processing with easy to use software apps. The list of apps currently numbers over sixty and is growing, and finding the perfect app for any situation is easy with the online Jupiter App Finder utility.

Mayer contends that they are using only a tiny fraction of the power of the Jupiter processor, mainly to equalize the playback system in each store. Where existing loudspeakers are adequate, the Jupiter goes in with SoundTube in-ceiling loudspeakers and QSC amplifiers. For new stores or more extensive renovations, the Jupiter goes in with a collection of self-powered Tannoy STK 2 Pharaoh loudspeakers. Because the Pharaohs are pyramid-shaped and deliver four separate beams plus a subwoofer, Mayer needs to install fewer of them to achieve smooth, even coverage. The simplicity of the installation is underscored by the user interface: Mayer gives the store an uncomplicated Symetrix RC-3 remote volume control.

“The Jupiter hardware and software provides all of the audio features I need for Future Shop and Best Buy,’ explained Mayer, “but what is way more important to me is the reliability and service I get from Symetrix. It’s funny, the key feature in this case doesn’t reside in the hardware or the software, it’s in the ‘humanware’ that backs it up.”
