TELEFUNKEN Elektroakustik of South Windsor, CT, will be showing its newest microphone, the M60 FET, and their entire line of microphones this year at Gear Expo, Hall 5 Booth #505, March 19-21 SXSW.

Partnering with The Continental Club, Nomad Sound, Jimmy Kimmel Live

TELEFUNKEN Elektroakustik of South Windsor, CT, will be showing its newest microphone, the M60 FET, and their entire line of microphones this year at Gear Expo, Hall 5 Booth #505, March 19-21 during South by Southwest in Austin, Texas.

TELEFUNKEN has partnered with The Continental Club in Austin, which will have their entire main stage equipped with a variety of TELEFUNKEN mics, including the M80, M81 and M82 dynamics, in addition to DD5 Dynamic Drum sets.   Jackie Greene will be performing on Thursday, March 19.  FOH engineer Charles Twilling commented, “Everything good needs an excellent beginning. As a touring sound engineer, that perfect beginning starts with my Telefunkens.”

In addition, TELEFUNKEN has partnered with Austin-based audio production company Nomad Sound, which will provide dynamic microphones for additional outdoor stages throughout the SXSW event.  http://www.nomadsound.net

The Continental Club’s production manager and Nomad Sound’s lead engineer Jamie Wellwarth, commented: “Telefunken has changed the whole sound of the Continental Club.  Their M80 and M81 dynamic mics have brought out a clarity to the vocals that we just didn’t have before. It’s great working with Tfunk, because we are going for the same thing — great sound in a rockin’ nightclub.”

Performing during SXSW is provocative Brooklyn band Rubblebucket that completed their new album “Survival Sounds” utilizing two large diaphragm tube mics from TELEFUNKEN: the AK-47 MkII and the CU-29 Copperhead. Mathew Scheiner, Rubblebucket’s FOH engineer and tour manager commented on their SXSW appearance, “Telefunken’s M81 dynamic is the first mic we’ve come across that allows vocals to cut through the rest of the 7-piece band without being too harsh up top, and still preserve a really healthy amount of body.”

Lastly, TELEFUNKEN microphones will be used for the SXSW tapings of Jimmy Kimmel Live. Audio Engineer Bart Chiate remarked, “The TELEFUNKEN M80?s are my go-to mics for the live performances on JKL. But with the show happening in Austin it wasn’t logistically possible for us to bring our own mics, so we reached out to Tfunk and they fixed us up with all the mics we need for our crew at the festival.  It’s gonna be a blast, especially since we know we have the sound totally nailed.”
