YAMAHA COMMERCIAL AUDIO SYSTEMS OFFERS POWERFUL PM5D-EX TO LIVE AND INSTALL MARKET

─Doubles the I/O Capacity and Processing Power of the PM5D─

BUENA PARK, Calif.─Yamaha Commercial Audio Systems, Inc. announces the availability of the PM5D-EX digital console power package. The live sound and recording system combines a Yamaha PM5D Digital Mixing Console with a
DSP5D Expander doubling the I/O and processing capacity of two PM5D consoles but controlled from a single surface. The system features 96 mono and 16 stereo input channels in a very flexible configuration.

The PM5D-EX system features 96 kHz processing throughout for outstanding sound and response, making it the ideal choice for critical live recording applications. Open architecture implemented through MY expansions slots in both the PM5D console and DSP5D Expander provides further flexibility by providing a choice of formats for direct multi-channel or stereo feeds to a DAW system. The DSP5D can also be used remotely using a DCU5D digital cabling unit connected by a single Ethernet cable.

The PM5D-EX power package is available in two versions: either a standard PM5D console or a PM5D-RH console. While the PM5D features high-performance head amps, the PM5D-RH adds head amp recall capability allowing head amp gain settings to be recalled along with the console’s scene data. The combination of PM5D and DSP5D’s four input fader layers can comfortably handle any large-scale application, and by doubling the DSP power, mixing engineers can apply any required processing to all channels without limitation. All analog inputs and outputs on both the Yamaha PM5D console and DSP5D are accessible via standard XLR type connectors for direct, hassle-free connectivity.

“Imagine using 96 inputs at a full 96 kHz sampling rate without compromising console performance or capabilities, states Marc Lopez, marketing manager, Yamaha Commercial Audio Systems, Inc. “With the company’s reputation for providing unmatched audio quality, there isn’t any other console on the market that is as powerful as the Yamaha PM5D-EX.

The open architecture of the PM5D-EX for flexible mixing and expandability provides the engineer with a choice of formats to feed stereo or multi-channel audio to a DAW. A MADI interface is an excellent choice for this type of connection allowing easy, efficient transfer of multiple audio channels to a DAW system for high quality live recordings. For example, by connecting a PM5D-EX to a Steinberg Nuendo DAW, the system provides 64-channel bidirectional audio transfer capability. Both the PM5D console and DSP5D feature expansion slots that accept a wide range of Yamaha MY cards as well as cards from other manufacturers. Four slots on the PM5D and two on the DSP5D allow not only I/O expansion in a variety of analog and digital audio formats, but also digital networking via CobraNet and EtherSound protocol.

The Yamaha PM5D-EX is currently available.
