Yamaha PM10 Digital Audio Consoles, NEXO STM Adorn Riverfront Stage at CMA Music Festival

BUENA PARK, Calif. (June 28, 2016)—It was a big year for the annual CMA Music Festival in Nashville. The 2016 Festival held June 9-12, 2016 sold out months in advance prompting large, enthusiastic crowds at the Festival’s numerous stages and event areas with a record-setting daily attendance of 88,500 fans.

With seven free stages along with the main act stages, the Chevrolet Riverfront Stage, the epicenter of daytime music was not only presenting new, young country artists but many legends as well. And, legendary for renowned digital audio consoles, Yamaha Professional Audio brought in two of the new RIVAGE PM10 Digital Audio Consoles to support the 35+ mix engineers at the Riverfront Stage. John Mills of Morris Light & Sound, one of the audio production companies for the festival, had the opportunity to man one of the two at front of house. Mills mixed Brooke Eden and Neil McCoy.

“When I used the Virtual Circuitry Modeling (VCM) of Transformer and SILK, I was kind of like come on guys, is this really going to be that cool, Mills asks. I’m telling you right now, holy cow it is that cool! You come in and you select Red or Blue before you start EQ-ing anything and you’ve already got some great sound. No phase artifacts due to EQ’s, because you’re already doing it at your preamp, so it’s kept clean from the beginning, EQ as little as possible. This is something that had not been done in digital desks in my opinion, yet.”

Morris also brought in the pre-requisite NEXO STM line array system again this year for the Riverfront Stage. CLAIR Global brought in two RIVAGE PM10s for the Nissan Stadium performance by Carrie Underwood who is currently using the consoles on tour.

Yamaha CLV4 Digital Audio Consoles were also front and center at many of the seven stages including monitors at Riverfront Stage, and at the Ascend Amphitheater, four CL consoles were used both at front of house and monitors as well as for production at both stages. Yamaha QL consoles were used at the Music City Center. Over 20 engineers mixed on CL and QL consoles at the various stages.
