Sigma Sound Studios announces the Sigma Sound Studio Direct Box ($695), which is available for a limited run. It was developed by audio pioneer and Sigma Sound Studios proprietor Joe Tarsia, who built the original direct box as a general-purpose unit for keyboards, electric bass and guitar.
To produce the new units, Tarsia had to search for the high-quality audio transformer that was at the heart of the original box, which was long out-of-production; he eventually located 50 transformers, and then assembled and signed the units himself.
