Tyler Owen opened Closer Look Recording in Cleveland 15 years agowith the goal to make it a world-class recording facility that wouldattract nationally known artists. He also wanted to make the samefacility available to local bands and musicians at reasonable rates. Now, after five years at the studio’s current location, Owen hastaken the next step toward those goals by adding an SSL console thatis—at 72 channels and 19 feet long—the largest of its kindin the Midwest.
Owen opened Closer Look's “B” room shortly after the“A” room was completed in the new location. He has a SSLconsole in one room and a Neve console in the other, reflecting theindustry standard to record onto a Neve board and mix onto an SSL. Inaddition to recording and production, the studio also offers studiomusicians the ability to master and duplicate CDs.
Owen wants to help the rich pool of musical talent in Clevelandcompete on a national level, and so keeps his rate as low as possible. He's worked with such acts as The O-Jay’s, Eightball, Pully, BoneThugs-N-Harmony and the James Gang, which has helped Owen attract localstandouts such as Michael Stanley, Tony Lang, Joe Rohan, Robin Stone,Will Bowen, Alexis Antes and several Christian artists who are nowcharting on national radio.
