Who: Tom Carter, manager of CEDAR Forensic Audio
Main responsibilities: evidential work, consultation, and sales and support
Previous Lives
2003-2008, Norfolk Constabulary technical support officer
The most fascinating thing about forensic audio, to me, is…the fact that from very poor-quality “live” audio and recordings, we can retrieve vital information that may stop something unpleasant from happening or perhaps ensure the correct outcome of an investigation.
My go-to piece of audio gear is…CEDAR Cambridge V5 Server workstation, which lets me run multiple instances of CEDAR Cambridge simultaneously and has the ability to batch-process huge quantities of surveillance material and evidential tapes across our network.
The last great movie I saw was…28 Weeks Later.
Currently in my CD changer…Amon Tobin and Four Tet.
When I’m not in the office, you can find me…in the gym, playing bass, recording music or visiting friends and family.
