Stax Museum curator Carol Drake and Fry
Ardent Studios’ founder John Fry has donated the studio’s Audiotronics-designed 20-input/8-output console — which is identical to the one formerly housed at the Stax label and recording studios — to the Stax Museum of American Soul Music, known as Soulsville. The museum was erected on the corner where the Stax label once operated, and visitors can stand in a re-created Stax Studio A, on the exact spot where so many legendary soul recordings by the likes of Otis Redding, Isaac Hayes, Aretha Franklin, the Bar Kays and Booker T. & the MGs were made.
