Beyerdynamic Headzone

Beyerdynamic is introducing Headzone, a portable surround sound mixing system, at AES 2006 in San Francisco’s Moscone Convention Center in booth #1102. Headzone is designed for a variety of applications including broadcast, post-production, recording studios, mobile recording and videogame sound design.

Headzone provides headphone-based 5.1 surround sound reproduction using current DSP technology. It also offers a patented ultrasonic-headtracking system, which locates the orientation of the listener’s head with respect to the source material and adjusts the audio accordingly. Headzone allows complete freedom of movement. Based on the setup commonly seen in a mixing studio, an engineer recording with Headzone can move around while the source material remains fixed in position.

Headzone also offers an advanced room simulation program, which allows users to create an auditory space within which to monitor the surround audio.
