Holophone, a division of Rising Sun Productions Ltd., will launchits first commercial product, The Holophone H2-PRO Surround SoundMicrophone, at NAB (in SRS Labs’ booth #N1502). The H2-PROincorporates a new design that maintains the patented “head” shape,adds 8-channel recording capability (5.1 channels plus a top channeland a center-rear channel), and has an improved connector and handle.Priced at $6,000 U.S., the Holophone H2-PRO will begin shipping byJuly.
The Holophone H2-PRO is a stand-alone microphone designedspecifically for audio professionals to capture up to eight channels ofdiscrete surround sound. It features eight XLR connectors that arecompatible with multichannel I/O devices such as hard disk recorders,preamplifiers and mixing boards that supply phantom power. The companyhas stripped certain features from the beta version, such as the PCM-7preamp/controller, PCD-7 preamp/cable driver and the MPS-1 powersupply. Users can plug the Holophone H2-PRO directly into theirequipment and be recording quickly and easily.
