Propellerhead Debuts Reason 7

Propellerhead has announced the release of Reason 7 music software, focusing on what it terms “new creative and inspirational improvements” for the software’s mixer, rack and sequencer.

Stockholm, Sweden (March 12, 2013)—Propellerhead has announced the release of Reason 7 music software, focusing on what it terms “new creative and inspirational improvements” for the software’s mixer, rack and sequencer.

Under Reason 7, users can reportedly integrate all their instruments into Reason with MIDI out, automatic audio slicing and audio quantize, and convert recordings into REX loops for further creative possibilities in the rack.

For mixing, Propellerhead is introducing a spectrum analyzer with visual EQ controls; group and parallel mix channels; and workflow improvements. The software is also said to have improved importing audio from users’ music libraries and the web with support for mp3, aac, wma and more. An enhanced Factory Sound Bank comes with new loops and drum kits, while the new Audiomatic Retro Transformer effect unit adds a futuristic-vintage sound to any tracks.

Since Reason users spend time exploring and tweaking sounds in the Reason rack, the most important mixing controls like level and pan are now available in the rack too. Meanwhile, new bus channels simplify grouping tracks and mixer groups to process them together. Create parallel channels with a single click for separate processing—for quick New York style parallel compression.

Reason’s new built-in spectrum analyzer window provides instant visual feedback on the selected channel or bus. The new Spectrum EQ window combines a spectrum analyzer with a graphic EQ overlay controlling the mixer’s EQ. Users can adjust the EQ on tracks from anywhere in the program.
