Jim Marshall, founder of Marshall Amplification, has been formally awarded the Order of the British Empire 5/03/2004 8:00 AM Eastern

Jim Marshall, founder of Marshall Amplification, has been formallyawarded the Order of the British Empire, an honor bestowed to those whorender valuable service to the United Kingdom and its people. Marshallwill now be known as “Jim Marshall, OBE” to signify thisorder of chivalry, which is one level below Knighthood.

Marshall was honored as a pioneering force in music whose successhas been a source of inspiration. He was further recognized for theextensive charitable work he does, as he actively seeks to help othersrealize their dreams.

The award was established in 1917 to recognize extraordinary effortsand vision in a wide range of activities, and its recipients arenominated by admirers of their accomplishments.
