Gainesville, FL (July 20, 2015)—After five decades, the Grateful Dead called it a day earlier this month with its Fare Thee Well mini tour. Along for the final ride was longtime sound provider Pro Media/UltraSound, which built a sizable audio system for the shows. The result was a system complicated enough that the company turned to Gainesville, FL-based Ramtech to design and construct a specialized splitter for the stage input and output system requirements.
Ramtech responded by creating a four-way transformer isolated splitter with two direct RamLatch outputs—one with ground-lift switches and two RamLatch transformer-isolated outputs—using Jensen JT-MB-D isolation transformers, also with ground-lift switches. “Any time you have that many splits, design and construction of the box is complicated,” said Lawrence Rambo of Ramtech. “You have to anticipate and test for the added loads of a fourth split.”
