Oxford, UK (February 1, 2011)–Demacio “Demo” Castellon has installed an SSL Matrix mixing console at his studio in Ontario, Canada.
Demo, part of production team The Demolition Crew, has worked with Timbaland on a range of projects for some of the world’s biggest names, including Jay-Z, Madonna, Nelly Furtado and Justin Timberlake.
Demo cut his teeth on larger SSL consoles, so making the move to a smaller format console was something he never thought he’d do. “If we tried to have this conversation even just two years ago, I would have told you its trash, don’t bother, save your money, go to a studio. But for what it is now, I think it could bring people over, especially people like me that are still trying to hold on to that [old] way of making records,” says Demo.
“I’m happy with it; I’m really happy with it. I’m very content and very happy with the way the sound is going for me. And I still feel creative, which was something that I felt limited with before. So I have one at home, and I have one on Timbaland’s bus. It’s nice being able to plug it up and just go; it’s fantastic. It deserves to have the SSL name attached to it.”
