As reported last week by Clive Young for Pro Sound News: "Grammy-winning producer/engineer Steve King (pictured), best known for his work with Eminem, died Tuesday, June 3, 2014 from liver disease in a hospital in Detroit. He was 56.

"King, who also mixed Eminem’s award-winning song 'Lose Yourself' for the 8 Mile soundtrack, also collaborated with Aretha Franklin, Patti Smith, George Clinton, Eminem’s D12 crew, Sponge, Lloyd Banks, and 50 Cent.

"Following King’s passing, Eminem released a statement saying, 'I'm very sad to hear about Steve King's passing. I had the honor and pleasure of working with Steve on many projects in my earlier years and he was a greatly talented engineer, musician and friend. I will miss Steve's friendly way and sense of humor the most. My condolences go out to his family and all that knew Steve.'

"King was an established musician and producer in Detroit, first playing in bands including The Pigs, the Traitors, Paper Hearts, the Boners, the Rushlow-King Combo, The RamRods and others. His first job recording was with Aretha Franklin’s 1982 'Jump To It.'

"King was the in-house engineer at 54 Sound in Ferndale, MI, just outside Detroit. He is survived by his wife, Roberta King, and son, Nick King."
