Shure announced the winners of the Shure Incorporated 80th Anniversary Online Trivia Contest that ran from January 20 to April 15. Contestants from all over the U.S. logged on to the game site to answer a series of questions about rock ‘n’ roll and Shure company history. A wide range of prize packages including gear from Shure, Tascam, Allen & Heath, Onstage, Hosa, Mackie, and Martin was given out to the winners.

The online trivia game, hosted by a smart-witted cartoon personality, consisted of four levels of trivia questions. Contestants competed against each other to correctly answer the most questions in the shortest amount of time.

“It was great to see so many people compete in the contest and for Shure to gain exposure to an expanded audience of young musicians and music fans,” commented Terri Johnson, Director of US Marketing Communications for Shure. “We definitely exceeded our expectations with the successful outreach of the game and hope to continue this success with future contests and promotions.”

The highest scoring contestant and the Grand Prize Winner was Mark Hunsberger from Ohio. Mark was awarded the “Live Show” prize package, which includes Shure Beta 58A mics, a Shure ULX Beta 58 Wireless, a mixer from Allen & Heath, and Hosa cables. Second place winner Lynette Alexander from Oregon received the “Studio” prize package. Albert Bouchard from New York, the third place winner, will be awarded the “Band Practice” prize package. The fourth place winner is Kira Morgan from Pennsylvania who was awarded the “Solo Act” prize package. A list of the winners and details of each prize package is available on the Shure website at www.shure.com/contest. In all, the prize packages totaled over $50,000 suggested retail price.

The Trivia Contest was the second Shure contest this year celebrating the 80th anniversary, the first being the Fantastic Scholastic Recording Competition geared toward college-level recording enthusiasts. Be sure to check the Shure website for upcoming events.
