Win an Akai MPC500 from Remix, Guitar Center

Guitar Center’s new Hi-Tech Custom Shop gives musicians access to rare and specialized items. The planned inventory for the shop includes limited custom editions, exclusive products and artist-endorsed items. These exclusive collaborations will be on display at select locations but can be special-ordered at any Guitar Center store nationwide.

To launch the Hi-Tech Custom Shop, Guitar Center purchased the last 11 Akai MPC4000 units ever made and partnered with Bruce Forat, who customized the 11 units. Forat has personally customized drum machines and keyboards for artists including Prince, Dr. Dre, Jermaine Dupri and Madonna. Akai MPC Series sampling drum machines have been instrumental in the development of hip hop and used by Kanye West, Just Blaze, Pete Rock and more.

“To make each of the remaining Akai MPC 4000s truly unique, we headed to the Caribbean for inspiration,” says Forat.“There’s something about the atmosphere and cool breeze that gets the creative juices going—I count these Hi-Tech Custom Shop MPCs among my best work.”

To celebrate the launch of this Hi-Tech Custom Shop, Remix and Guitar Center are sponsoring a contest. All you have to do is submit one name of a producer or artist that has been featured in Remix magazine who uses the MPC4000 in his or her studio, and you can win a new Akai MPC500. One person with a correct answer will be selected at random on November 5, 2007. To enter, submit the name of the artist or producer and the month/year of the Remix issue in which he or she appeared to [email protected]. Enter the contest now!
