The Recording Academy® Producers & Engineers Wing® and the Consumer Electronics Association® Set Sweepstakes to Promote the Debut of QualitySoundMatters.com Version 2.0

SANTA MONICA, Calif. (December 30, 2013) — On December 23, 2013, the Producers & Engineers Wing® of The Recording Academy® and the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) debuted V2.0 of the online portal www.QualitySoundMatters.com. The launch of the site’s new blog format comes in advance of both the annual International CES®, January 7-10, 2014, in Las Vegas, and the 56th Annual GRAMMY Awards®, January 26, 2014. The debut will be highlighted by a Twitter sweepstakes featuring prizes from leading audio equipment manufacturers and the grand prize of a pair of tickets to the 56th Annual GRAMMY Awards telecast, which will broadcast live from the STAPLES Center in Los Angeles.

First launched in January of 2012, www.qualitysoundmatters.com is dedicated to improving the digital music listening experience. Created jointly by The Recording Academy Producers & Engineers Wing and the Consumer Electronics Association Home Audio Division, the site offers rich content and targeted information for consumers and professionals alike to find and enjoy quality music recordings, and provide articles on products, technologies, record labels, recording artists and music producers who are leading the way in the quality revolution.

As the introduction to the site states, the digital music revolution has reached a turning point. With digital content now conveniently available everywhere via 4G networks and wireless broadband, higher-quality audio is now possible, and the quest for delivery of higher-resolution audio has become the new frontier. File formats today can accommodate the 96-kHz/24-bit dimensions of full-bandwidth recordings. Premium headphones with much broader frequency response than the earbuds of the past now allow listeners to experience the full dynamic range of music, as do a growing array of both accessible and affordable consumer electronics products. Content providers can now use these tools to their full extent and provide high-quality audio for a new era. The QualitySoundMatters site aims to be a current, continuously updated source of information on these topics.

To enter the sweepstakes, set to run December 30, 2013, to January 3, 2014, applicants must post to Twitter with a response to any of the questions posted by CEA (@CEA), and use the designated hashtag, #QualitySound within the contest’s designated time frame.
