The ASP800 is a compact, 1U rackmount unit featuring eightultrahigh-quality mic preamplifiers developed from the mic pre designused in the ASP8024 recording console.
The designed uses an 8-transistor discrete Class-A front end withextended bandwidth and a noise floor close to the theoretical Johnsonlimit. Carefully chosen close-tolerance components are used to achievehigh CMRR at all gain settings, and distortion is minimized to lessthan 0.001% at 20dB gain and +10dBu output. Each mic amp also featuresswitchable input impedance, allowing the user to explore the subtlevariations in microphone character that are determined by outputtermination.
All channels include an XLR input, “soft start” 48V phantom power,switchable input impedance, 25 to 250Hz highpass filter and line inputselection. Channels 1 and 2 also feature a -20dB attenuator and ahigh-impedance instrument/DI input on a front panel-mounted jack. LEDsprovide indication of signal present and overload. A digital outputoption is available in addition to the standard balanced analogoutputs.
Other features include optional ADAT, AES/EBU and S/PDIF outputswith selectable sample rate (44.1/48/88.2/96 kHz) and dither(16/20/24-bit).
