We stumbled across this good-natured comedy clip imagining a Slipknot soundcheck in the early 2000s, and naturally had to share it. Never mind that back in the early 2000s, the nightmarishly costumed band was actually already huge, playing sheds instead of VFW halls. PSN first covered the band in 2001—by then, Slipknot was a headliner on the annual OzzFest tour and in reality, its FOH engineer at the time was none other than the legendary “Big Mick” Hughes (Metallica, Led Zeppelin).
More recently, we covered the band’s 2015 Prepare for Hell tour, where it hit the road with Thunder Audio and a sizable L-Acoustics rig. That tour would prove to be the last with the group’s longtime engineer, the late Dave “Shirt” Nicholls, who mixed the band for 15 years. Underlining the fact that you never know where a fledgling new group might wind up, this YouTube clip invites us all to sit back and have a laugh.
