Jupiter Studios Relocates

Jupiter Studios in St. Louis has relocated from its former downtown location on Washington Avenue to a newly renovated 4,500-square-foot facility at 3323 Locust St.

“We are expanding our business capabilities to include a high-tech, state-of-the-art, full-service recording and marketing facility,” says owner Jim Callahan, an audio engineer, producer and musician.

The new studio features three precisely tuned audio suites. Studio A comprises a control room, a larger live room and two isolation booths. Studio B is a tracking room with an isolation booth. Studio C is an audio and video post-production room featuring the latest in cutting-edge scoring technology.

“As a musician myself, I know the importance of recording in a comfortable and creative environment,” says Callahan. “No pressures, no hassles, no formalities. That’s the image we offer at Jupiter Studios. The new facility will let us stretch out and offer new amenities, but we’ll still offer the most competitive prices in town.”

The facility was designed by Lawrence Group architect Kurt Kerns, a founding member of the now defunct Platinum-selling electro-rock band Gravity Kills.

“Jim and I were on the same page, in terms of function and aesthetics, ” says Kerns. “As local musicians, we both understood the frustration many St. Louis artists experience in looking for quality audio recording facilities. A number of local facilities offer cutting-edge equipment, but very few, if any, offer engineered acoustic rooms tuned for accurate audio tracking and mixing. The acoustic environment tends to be an afterthought. Our goal was to create an environment that was as creatively inspiring as it was technically capable.”

One of the first projects Jupiter Studios will produce in the new location is STL Now, a cable television program highlighting restaurants, shops, nightclubs and businesses in St. Louis. Callahan plans to transform Jupiter Studios into a full-service marketing group by adding graphic design and Web development capabilities in the near future.
