Tony Bennett, Lady Gaga, Aretha Franklin Record at Avatar Studios

Avatar Studios in New York City announces that in July 2011, Tony Bennett recorded a duet with Lady Gaga in Studio A for his upcoming Duets II album. The session was produced by Phil Ramone and engineered by Dae Bennett, assisted by Fernando Lodeiro and Tim Marchiafava. Tony Bennett also sang and recoded a duet with Aretha Franklin in Studio C for the same project. Both sessions were filmed.

Recording for an Evanescence project took place in Studio B with producer Nick Raskulinecz and engineer Paul Figueroa, assisted by Fernando Lodeiro.

Scarlett Johansson recorded vocals in Studio G for a Dean Martin project with producer/engineer Eric Rosse assisted by Charlie Kramsky.

Vernon Reid, Jean Morrison, and Nile Rodgers at Avatar Studios

Jean Morrison recorded in Studio A for her upcoming album with help from Nile Rodgers and Vernon Reid. Diego Paul produced the session and Hillary Johnson engineered, assisted by Charlie Kramsky.

The Gaddabouts were back in Studio A recording with producers Steve Gadd and Edie Brickell; engineer Andy Smith was assisted by Bob Mallory.

The Zak Smith Band recorded in Studios A and G with producer Zak Smith, engineer Milan Sudzuk, and assistant Aki Nishimura.

Kenny Garrett recorded in Studio C with producer Donald Brown, engineer Todd Whitelock, and assistant Fernando Lodeiro.

Jane Ira Bloom recorded in Studio B with engineer Jim Anderson, assisted by Fernando Lodeiro.

Michael Maier and Freddie Cole recorded vocals in Studio W. Maier produced the session, which was engineered by Bryan Smith.

Music for the Discovery Channel’s show The Rising: Rebuilding Ground Zero was recorded in Studio C with producer Robert Miller, engineer Peter Hylenski and assistant Charlie Kramsky.

Finally, James Sheldon, author of Before I Forget—Directing Television: 1948–1988, was in Studio E reading his own book for an audio book.
