Some 144 music and audio professionals will golf for charity at the 10th Annual Mix LA Open, to be held on Monday, June 13, 2005, at the beautiful Malibu Country Club. Presented by the Mix Foundation for Excellence in Audio and Mix magazine, the tournament benefits the hearing conservation efforts of the House Ear Institute’s Sound Partners program, music education programs of L.A.’s Sound Art, and scholarships for students of the audio arts and sciences.

The “best ball” tournament will feature more contests and sponsorship opportunities this year. A raffle and silent auction featuring musical instruments, audio gear, sports memorabilia, wine/food baskets and audio industry mementos will follow the tournament. The day will conclude with a “19th hole” barbecue dinner and awards presentation.

“We’ve had a lot of fun over the years,” says Tournament Director, Karen Dunn. “Through their participation and good will, the pro audio and music industries have continually shown their willingness to step up and support hearing and audio education. We’re looking forward to another great day in Malibu.”

Confirmed sponsors to date include Absolute Music, Audio-Technica, C.E. Pickup Co/IAC, Design FX, Harman Pro Group, KRK, Panasonic, Record Plant, Shure Inc., Warner Bros. Studio Facilities and Yamaha Corp. Remaining sponsorship slots can be checked online at www.mixfoundation.org/LAopen/LAopen.html, or by contacting Karen Dunn at [email protected].
