Sony Oxford Plug-In Event a Success

A standing-room-only group of audio professionals from the New York City area, ranging from studio doyen Walter Sear to indie producer Will Roberson, gathered at the Dale Pro Audio Event Room on June 14 for the Sony Oxford plug-in demo presented by Grammy-nominated engineer/mixer Vaughan Merrick and Andy Munitz, national training manager for Sony’s Broadcast Production Systems division.

Merrick—who has used Sony Oxford plug-ins on hits for artists such as the Chemical Brothers, Robbie Williams, Sean Paul, Brooke Valentine, Tristan Prettyman and Juliet—put the Oxford EQ, Limiter, Transient Modulator, Inflator, Dynamics and Reverb plug-ins through their paces and fielded questions from the audience. The two-hour event was co-sponsored by Sony Pro Audio and Digidesign and also featured brief presentations from Sony Oxford product manager Rod Densham and Digidesign product specialist Tony Cariddi.

Three lucky attendees won door prizes at the event. Sear Sound studio manager Roberta Findlay and Jamman Productions producer/composer James Manno each won Oxford Limiter plug-ins. The grand prize, a full TDM Oxford Six Pack worth $2,695, was won by indie producer Will Roberson, whose credits include the Last Poets CD featuring John Legend, Common and Erykah Badu, as well as projects for Jean Michel Jarre, Oxygen and The Dead Prez.
