Formosa Group Inks Sound Veteran Warren Shaw

Shaw’s Credits Include Upcoming Beauty and the Beast

HOLLYWOOD, CA – Formosa Group, one of the most creative and well-respected post-production sound companies in the entertainment industry, announced today that Supervising Sound Editor/Sound Designer/Re-recording Mixer Warren Shaw has joined Formosa Group’s Features division. Shaw, a 25-year master craftsman of the industry, has collaborated with such esteemed directors as Bill Condon, Sam Mendes, and Philip Noyce, as well as supervising sound for such celebrated actor/directors as Steve Buscemi, Robert De Niro, and Sean Penn. Shaw’s next theatrical release is the highly anticipated Disney live-action version of Beauty and the Beast, due March 17th. The announcement was made by Robert C. Rosenthal, CEO of Formosa Group.

“We’re thrilled that Warren has joined Formosa Group,” noted Rosenthal. “His talent, versatility, and collaborative spirit personify the values established at our company. We feel quite fortunate.”

“I’m very excited to have joined Formosa Group. I know of no other company that has made such a total commitment to supporting the craft of sound,” remarked Shaw.  “The team spirit and love of the work is evidenced in every forward step the company makes, and I’m thrilled to call it my new home.”

Raised in New York City, Shaw showed promise early, when at age eighteen he began working at one of the premier hip-hop studios in Manhattan. At 21, Warren began working in sound for film, cutting his teeth on such prestige releases as Tim Robbins’ Cradle Will Rock and legendary animator Hayao Miyazaki’s Princess Mononoke.

Shaw’s first Supervising Sound Editor credit was on the acclaimed indie release Jesus’ Son in 1999. Since that time, Warren’s feature credits include period dramas (Vanity Fair, Revolutionary Road, The Hours, Mr. Holmes), horror (the original Blair Witch), action fare (Salt), biopics (The Good Shepherd, The Fifth Estate), comedies (Tower Heist, Young Adult), and animation (Princess Mononoke).
