Crowley and Tripp Microphones has introduced the Studio Vocalist, a full size ribbon microphone built to modern recording standards. Hand-crafted and tuned in the U.S., the Studio Vocalist claims to have a higher output than most popular dynamic microphones, made possible by Crowley and Tripp’s custom ribbon motor.
The Studio Vocalist motor tailors bass response without attenuating the overall output using a proprietary damping and matching system that produces a frequency response that reportedly sounds full in the low and midrange. In addition, the company has custom designed an impedance-matched ribbon assembly so the microphone achieves an accurate high range response, which is ideal for capturing fast transients in vocals, acoustic instruments and concert halls.
Crowley and Tripp’s Studio Vocalist is not a reissue design, but an “all-new” ribbon microphone that combines the qualities of modern dynamic and classic ribbon microphones with solid, proven techniques in transducer engineering.
Studio Vocalist is housed in a durable stainless steel body and features hand-assembled inner workings, solid silver block contacts and hefty point-to-point wiring.
The Studio Vocalist is currently available directly from the company’s lab for $1395. Visit www.soundwaveresearch.com for more information.
