Korg ToneWorks has introduced the AX3000G modeling signal processor, which integrates Korg’s exclusive REMS (Resonant Electronic Modeling System) technology with extensive control possibilities, as well as performance- and studio-oriented features.
A knob-based user interface provides access to all functions, and a backlit LCD ensures visibility even under difficult lighting conditions. An expression pedal and breakthrough Expression Step Sequencer further add to the unit’s capabilities.
The AX3000G combines signal and effects processing with the latest innovations in amp and speaker cabinet modeling. A total of 72 amp, cabinet and effects processor models are available, including 16 types of drive and amp models covering everything from vintage to high-gain metal. Eleven types of modeled pre-effects, 16 cabinet, 11 modulation, 11 delay and 11 reverb effects deliver a broad sound palette, plus Noise Reduction for Hi-gain settings. The guitar sound itself can also be processed with pickup, acoustic body and top modeling effects.
Thirty-two factory presets are included, with space for 96 user presets. A wide selection of effects range from chorus, delay and reverb, to new effects such as Filtron, which takes the “auto-wah” concept to a new level. Up to seven effects can be used at once. The AX3000G also provides send/return jacks for users to connect to their favorite stomp box or rack effect unit.
An assignable control switch can be used to turn each effects block on and off and to control effects parameters in real time. The expression pedal, with 8-point LED indicator, can be used in a variety of ways, from standard volume and wah control functions to effects parameter control. The unique new Expression Step Sequencer (ESS) automatically controls most effect parameters in a fixed or random step function. Users can assign up to eight steps of effect parameter values in the step sequencer, and specify one of seven ways in which the sequencer will play back these steps, including Forward, Backward, Alternate and Random.
A 4-position amp/line selector maximizes the AX3000G’s output for use with various open-backed combo amplifiers, amp head/4x12 cabinet combinations or mixer/recorders. Additional features include an auto-chromatic tuner; S/PDIF digital output; Key Lock function for preventing accidental control changes; AUX IN; and MIDI in/out, enabling the user to edit and store original sounds on a Mac or Windows computer using the free AX3000G Sound Editor software. A heavy-duty metal chassis round out the feature set.
The ToneWorks AX3000G slated for release this month at a U.S. MSRP of $450.
