Softube’s Tonelux Tilt EQ plug-in
Softube AB in Linköping, Sweden, announces its new Tonelux Tilt EQ plug-in (Mac/PC), which is available in VST, Audio Units, RTAS, TDM and VENUE formats. The Tilt EQ plug-in is modeled after Tonelux’s original hardware EQ that was first featured in the company’s MP1a mic preamp, and is designed to provide a fast and easy way to rebalance the frequencies of an entire track.
The equalizer’s “tilt” design is said to allow simultaneous adjustment of low and high frequencies so that a recorded track, live instrument, or entire mix can be taken from bright and shimmering to warm and wide (and back again) with a turn of the dial. In live performance, adjustments can be made quickly without introducing feedback or unwanted volume changes.
The Tilt plug-in is a joint development effort between Tonelux designer Paul Wolff and Softube, and is said to be the first and only software re-creation of the Tilt hardware unit that is officially endorsed by Tonelux. The plug-in includes new features that are optimized specifically for use with live sound/Avid VENUE systems. Rounding out the plug-in’s design is a detailed model of the transformer used in the MP1a mic preamp, which adds subtle distortion to bass frequencies.
The Tonelux Tilt EQ is offered in a bundle with Softube’s Trident A-Range EQ. Through July 18, 2010, customers can purchase the Trident and the Tilt together for the price of the Trident alone; customers can also purchase the Tilt EQ separately, and current Trident A-Range owners can buy the Tilt EQ as an upgrade at reduced pricing.
