Meyer Makes Mark In Mansfield

The Mansfield ISD Center for Performing Arts in Mansfield, TX recently installed a Meyer Sound Constellation acoustic system to its multi-use Cunningham Performance Hall to accommodate a variety of events at the school.

Mansfield, TX (May 13, 2013)—The Mansfield ISD Center for Performing Arts in Mansfield, TX recently installed a Meyer Sound Constellation acoustic system to its multi-use Cunningham Performance Hall to accommodate a variety of events at the school.

The performance hall holds up to 5.500 seats, but that set up can be rearranged for smaller events in the same space, and a thick acoustical curtain is sometimes used to close off the balcony for concerts. However, the 1.3 seconds of reverberation time resulting from the curtain makes the room too dry to support unamplified concerts such as orchestras and choirs.

The solution was a Meyer Sound Constellation system, built around a core D-Mitri digital audio platform with eight processing frames, including three processors for hosting the patented VRAS algorithms. Two dozen microphones distributed on stage and around the hall pick up the stage and room’s acoustics, and the DVRAS processors produce augmented early reflections and reverberations that are delivered by 95 Meyer Sound self-powered loudspeakers and subwoofers. Eleven different acoustical presets of varying reverberation times are available on a touchscreen interface.

The Mansfield ISD Center for the Performing Arts was designed by Huckabee architectural firm of Fort Worth. In addition, Infinity Sound of Grand Prairie handled system integration for the center’s AV systems, including Constellation.
