BLUE OmniMouse
BLUE Microphones announced the OmniMouse Microphone during the recent AES Show in New York City, as well as reported that its sister company, Red Microphones, is now shipping the new Type B microphone.
Based on the design of the Mouse Microphone, the OmniMouse is a pressure-gradient condenser mic featuring a rotating omni-directional capsule enclosed within a spherical grille. This is the same B4 capsule used in Blue’s Bottle microphone system.
Frequency range: 20 to 20,000 Hz; Sensitivity at 1kHz into 1kohm: 8mV/Pa; Rated impedance: 150 ohms; Rated load impedance: not less than 1 kohms; Noise level: DIN/IEC 651: 20dB-A; Maximum SPL 145 dB (THD 0.5%); Dynamic range: 96 dB. Optional accessories include a custom shock mount and high-definition mic cable.
The OmniMouse will be available in January 2006 for $1699 MSRP.
Red Microphones’ Type B is an affordable Class-A discrete solid-state mic designed exclusively for Red by Blue Microphones as a foundation for interchangeable capsules. Included with the Type B microphone body is the Red Lollipop Capsule, an all-around capsule with applications ranging from vocals to electric and acoustic guitars, close-miking of drums, drum overheads, percussion, piano, horns, strings and more. The Type B also includes the Type B
Accessory Pak, with Blue’s high-definition 22-AWG Cranberry mic cable and Type B Shockmount.
Type B’s bayonet top can accommodate a variety of new and vintage lollipop-style capsules, including classic Neumann-Gefell capsules and Blue’s renowned line of Bottle microphone capsules, The Bottle Caps.
The Type B will is now available through Red, The Vintage Microphone Online Store, as well as authorized dealers, for $699 MSRP.
