Adding to its L Series, Alcons’ LR16Bass is a high-output bass system for permanent and portable applications and is designed as low-frequency extension to the LR16 line array speaker module in flown and stacked configuration.
A flown application means that the system is placed in “full-space” conditions, which brings a reduction (-3 dB) of output vs. a “half-space” stacked application. To achieve a higher efficiency than the conventional front-loading arrangement, the long-excursion 15-inch drivers are double-vented, double-tuned in a bandpass loading configuration. The resulting 102dB (1W/1m, full-bandwidth 46-200Hz) efficiency, in combination with the 3,200W power handling, brings a 137dB peak SPL from a compact cabinet.
The cabinet is made of 15mm/0.6-inch birch wood with bracing for a lightweight yet rigid construction. The drivers are two long-excursion 15-inch woofers with Neodymium magnet structures and low power-compression design.
The integrated heavy-duty flying system, also featured in the LR16, doesn’t have any separate/loose parts and is certified to a high safety rating of 500 kg single-point safety ratio of 10:1. In stacked configuration, the two-side usable flying hardware of the LR16B forms a stable foundation for LR16 arrays.
The LR16B is included in the latest version of Alcons Ribbon Calculator (ARC™) prediction software. The LR16B comes with flying frames, Durotect™ scratch-resistant coating, four handles, sliding/stacking strips and optional wheel dolly and soft cover, and is backed by a six-year warranty.
