Bayou City Sound Adopts Turbosound Aspect Series

After more than 20 years, Tom Bohacek and Scott Powers’ Bayou City Sound (Tomball, Texas) realized that it was time for a change in their choice of speakers.

After more than 20 years, Tom Bohacek and Scott Powers’ Bayou City Sound (Tomball, Texas) realized that it was time for a change in their choice of speakers. Says Bohacek, “It started taking considerable effort to make our sound systems consistent from venue to venue. We were looking for something that would operate easily and involve less tweaking and bending of frequencies to make it work. Overall, there was too much inconsistency.”

At the same time, Bohacek says he began hearing constant buzz among his clients about line array speaker systems, viewed by many as the one-size-fits-all solution to almost any live sound challenge. “My old P.A. system wasn’t all that tech rider¬friendly. And bands would send out specs that would call for line array systems.”

While searching for a new complement of loudspeakers that would enable it to expand into touring sound, the company found Turbosound’s new Aspect Series loudspeakers.

Says Bohacek: “Once we heard the Aspect Series at the NSCA show in March, we were convinced that this was the system that would help us succeed in our expansion into larger markets. Just as line arrays have been reinvented, Turbosound has done an amazing job in designing line array line characteristics into traditional ground-stacked systems.”

Bayou City’s initial purchase comprised six Aspect 880H high-frequency speakers and eight Aspect 880L subwoofers. Plans are in the works to round out the Aspect complement with additional units.

Bohacek says, “We were able to focus the sound in just the listening area and keep it off an area where vendors were located, allowing people to order food and not have to yell above the sound of blaring music. The promoter noticed that capability right off the bat. “With the unique built-in rigging system, flying applications are also achievable, creating the versatility to not only improve the quality of ground-stacked systems, but transcend the boundary between them and the line array systems.

“With ever-evolving technology, I wanted to take my time to find the right technology to put us in the lead for many years to come,” Bohacek continues. “We’re now moving to the next step in our business and we’re looking forward to using Turbosound Aspect Series speakers as the basis of our business expansion.”
